Beginning Web Services for Java
Description and Objectives

This 5-day, hands-on course introduces Java developers to the technologies that make up Web Services: XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI.  Using the Java Web Services Developer Pack from Sun, programmers learn JAXP for processing XML documents using SAX and DOM, and JAXB for binding XML to Java classes. SOAP messages are implemented using JAX-RPC for simple request/response messages, and JAXM for document-based SOAP messages.  Programmers also learn the Java API for XML Registries (JAXR).  Although much of the class focuses on UDDI as the typical registry implementation, it also covers interacting with other registries, such as ebXML. Lab exercises enable students to get experience with each technology in practical applications.
